Principal & Teacher (Grades 3 - 8; Pre-K coordinator)
Mrs. Hernandez

Vershonda Hernandez is a dedicated and compassionate teacher with a passion for making a lasting impact on young people’s lives. Her extensive experience of over 20 years, spanning both private and public schools, includes roles as a Learning Reform Specialist, Grades 1-8 Teacher, Multi-grades Principal/Teacher, and Tutor.
Mrs. Hernandez holds higher learning Degrees in Education from Oakwood University and Grand Canyon University. Over the years, she had the privilege of working with diverse student populations and tailoring my teaching strategies to meet their individual learning needs.
Vershonda fosters an engaging classroom environment that encourages discovery and collaborative learning. Her teaching style promotes team building, higher achievement, critical thinking, knowledge retention, and positive student-teacher relationships, and a lifelong love of learning.
Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading, traveling, building/repair and all things tech, which often inspire creative learning opportunities I bring into the classroom.
I’m looking forward to partnering with students, parents, and colleagues to make this school year a successful and memorable one.

Mrs. Jordan

Hi! My name is Mrs. Jordan and I will be the new K-2 teacher at DAS! I am from West Virginia and I recently graduated from Southern Adventist University. I absolutely love kids and have always had a passion for teaching. In my free time, I love to read, swim, and play volleyball and basketball. I am so excited to join the DAS family and create a welcoming and fun classroom environment that uplifts Jesus in everything.
